So, I've tried to sell on Etsy before. It didn't go well. But now, with Martial Arts & Crafts, my intention is inspired by a "black belt attitude" so I'm trying again. I intend to share, celebrate progress, learn and adapt. I know I won't be perfect at this right away, but I'm willing to fail in order to grow.
My kids have been doing karate for several years, and the lessons and values of their martial arts extend beyond the mat and go way deeper than punching and kicking. In the summer of 2018, I began my own martial arts training. And it has ignited a passion in me that I haven't felt for some time. I'm learning about myself, my body, my mind and my growth and how to take the lessons from the mat out into my community.
Everything comes back to karate for me. I can compare life lessons from my family, friendships and work life to the lessons our instructors are pouring into us each week. And at home, we have our karate values proudly on display. My intention with Martial Arts and Crafts is to invite other martial artists to bring their training and valuable lessons into their homes, offices and other spaces where life happens, so that they can grow and make intentional choices as they continue to learn what it means to BE a Black Belt.
AND, if you are not a martial artist, I hope you'll also find some inspiration here. I'm working on producing some wild unique pieces that can be appreciated by anyone, regardless of whether or not they've ever set foot in a dojo or worn a gi. I hope to inspire you with my journey, that of a middle aged mom doing new and uncomfortable things, so that you might do something that scares you, too.
No matter what color your belt is, or what style of martial arts you choose, if any, I trust that you are using the training available to you to become a better person than YOU were yesterday. Carry it with you, share it with others. Celebrate your progress.
Make an impact!
